Hi Folks, One Of The Fam Needs Help!

The Mexican earthquake has seen approximately 230 die and a rescue operation mounted to extricate children trapped in the rubble of their schools. 500 army members and 200 police officers are working to free people they can see with thermal scanners still trapped under collapsed buildings. It is said to be Mexico’s worst earthquake in 30 years.

Some of you might have seen or chatted to Equinoxio, (Brian) on The Editor’s Journal, a deeply cool guy that I enjoy much silly and equally deep banter with on the regular. He lives in Mexico. He is right smack in the middle of it all with buildings collapsed nearby. Fortunately he appears to be fine along with his family but is no doubt in a weird place owing to the shock of it all and everything is in ‘chaos’ as he describes it. There is still fear of aftershocks, gas leaks, more buildings on the brink of collapse…

He is currently babysitting his 15 month grandson Gonzalo so his rather wonderful daughter who is an MD can be out there at the coal face treating the sick.

If you are able to help:

He has given a link on his blog to send funds if you can here.

Thanks guys.

Some Joy From all The Naziness!

Hello folks! You know I wouldn’t let you down in these WTF?! times.

Here are some great responses when those ‘fine people on both sides’ go out on a walkathon for a day. Enjoy.

  1. See what some folk did in response to a march held every year to celebrate the ‘dead loser’ (Arnold Schwarzeneggers words) Rudolf Hess.

2. See what some folks came up with for another march featuring 2 sets of clowns.

Originally featured on The Good Reverend then Neatorama

3. He he! Possibly my favourite….although the clown one is up there. This guy turned up with a sousaphone to play these fine people along in their march with suitable lumbering music for the slow witted.

What Say You?

Do you have a favourite?

Do you think these are better responses than fighting?

What are your views on Trump’s response to the Charlottesville rally and should the sousaphone man be hired to follow him around the world…or not?

Is It Right…

…to pierce a baby’s ears?

This cute little chubster is about to get her ears pierced. Isn’t she gorgeous and squidgeable?

The parents who took her to have it done say;

‘It was suggested to us that we pierce her ears early so that she would not remember the pain.’

Another woman who had her babies ears peirced recently said,

Did she cry? Yes for a split second. Do I regret it? No.

‘My daughter loves her earrings and she sees herself as batman with pretty ears. It’s much easier to get them done as a baby than when they’re older. Fact.

‘She looks beautiful in her earrings, and she loves to change her earrings when mummy does and wears all different ones.

How many parents force children to go through painful cosmetic surgery on the NHS for vanity reasons? Is that child abuse too?

‘Port wine birthmarks mostly cause no problems but parents choose to put children through painful laser surgery for vanity reasons. Ears pinned back, another unneeded surgery for vanity. If you declare vanity as child abuse, at least roll it across the board.’

Personally, I had my ears pierced when I was a baby so I don’t remember anything, but is that the point? The women above talk about ear piercing as though it is a necessary life-saving procedure. Surely if the child wants their ears pierced they will do it when they are old enough as they do with tattoos and cosmetic surgery? And surely with the first mom’s logic why not get little Bubba tattooed early also…remember when we discussed the mother that DID do that here?

So is this really at best a vanity procedure for the mothers? And if it is, is it okay as it’s just a harmless little thing to make Mom happy?

Folks What Say You?!

I’m not 100% either way on this one, yet I was very decided about the baby who was tattooed. We pierced chublings don’t remember the pain of course but why is this even necessary?

The baby does indeed cry for only a few minutes and with a few jingling keys are distracted and the pain is more or less forgotten pretty quickly.

Have you pierced your little cherub?

Let me know…below! 🙂

  1. You’re right The Ed, this is close to murder!

  2. It’s a tiny moment of pain The Ed, get over it!

Not MY Neighbour!

I’m sure even our overseas visitors have heard about the Grenfell fire tragedy in the UK, involving a massive 24 storey 220 foot residential tower block.

Many were killed, burnt alive as fire swept fast and unexpectedly through the whole of the tall building due what we now know were cost cutting measures that otherwise would have seen the fire correctly contained to one apartment. Orphans were made as desperate mothers, accepting their own dire fate, threw their babies from great heights to strangers below. Many are still missing, by now of course presumed dead.

But I want to move the story on for The Big Question to get your point of view on the further developments.
There’s no more survivors. The various authorities, having done nothing for their tragic constituents for about a week, have kicked in and found new homes for (most of) the now homeless survivors.

This has caused some issues. I’ll illustrate this with 2 Camps.

Camp1 are the Grenfell fire victims who are now are going to be housed in an apartment block in a ‘swanky’ part of London within a luxury development. The government has basically gone to the new luxury development which had not finished selling it’s apartments and bought up all the remaining homes… nearby. This has ruffled the feathers of some of the residents there (who we’ll call Camp 2) who say that they don’t want them there. As an exclusive development the residents have paid a premium for the services, the exclusivity and to get to live with the ‘type of person’ who is able to live there.

The fire victims Camp 1, need homes. They need to settle down somewhere where they can mourn their missing loved ones and begin re-building their thoroughly shattered lives.

Ho-w-e-v-e-r….

Most sane people would understand the needs of Camp 1 but I wonder if there is some understanding of the wealthy residents in Camp 2‘s point of view or not? ‘Type of person’ sounds snooty in black and white on a computer screen, but can and does have a variety of meanings. In this case it more than likely means some or all of the following; Low income, benefit dependent, foreign, illegal, Muslim…
The main argument being that you don’t pay a high premium for amenities and exclusivity to share the space with people who don’t.

A few views:

‘Have you heard about how they are letting these people who don’t work live in luxury apartments? People are saying that they don’t want these people here in their apartments, that they rely too much on the government. They are saying: ‘I pay £5,000 a month to live here’

‘North Kensington is not this Kensington. They should be in a place where they are happy, but not here. I don’t want them here.’

I should point out that the apartments the Grenfell survivors will be given are ‘social housing’ apartments which are usually very nice apartments built in close proximity to uber luxury apartments in a general deal struck up by the various councils and luxury developers to provide low income housing. So they get the nice area, the really nice apartments, but not the private communal cinema or access to the swimming pools, gyms etc.

I’ll also add that pretty much the whole thing was done in a knee jerk reaction by the authorities to make up for the initial total inertia and lack of leadership, accountability, compassion and duty of care shown to the residents when the tragedy started to unfold. Think Hurricane Katrina.

Here are some images from the luxury apartments. Not feeling the decor myself but there you go!

One gets the feeling that had they handled the situation better, Camp 1 would have been gradually re-homed in like for like accommodation.

But is that the point? Does that even matter?

I place the 2 sides of the argument in your proven capable hands!

WHAT SAY YOU?!

1. Sharrup The Ed! These people need homes. That’s all that matters. Doesn’t matter where.

2. Hold it right there The Ed! The Residents in Camp 2 have a point why should they now have to bear the brunt of the council and the governments mistake? This is not what they paid for.

This Is Special…

So…this 12 year old girl just ‘helped’ deliver her baby bro – you know…as you do! There was no panicked emergency that necessitated it, just a decision that this was probably the 3rd and last child that mother Zadyn Dellapena would be having, so…why not?!

Her name is Jacee and the doc, Dr Walter Wolfe apparently asked if she wanted to deliver the baby, upon which she was fitted with scrubs and the rest is internet history.

As you will see, she was not just pootling around in the room at the time, as kids might do at a home birth, she was all up in the business end of the delivery and was the first to welcome the newborn sprog Cadyn.

Look at her face though! 🙂

Loving the matching expressions!

Quite amazing huh?!

Well, this is it… It IS amazing, but I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Am I pro or con? I dunno!

Not sure how to articulate exactly what I have a problem with…not even sure I have a problem.

So I have to turn once more to you guys.

SCHOOL ME! – WHAT SAY YOU?!

It’s natural you fool! It’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and all 12 year olds should be doing this!

Sad News As A Woman Dies…

A woman named marinna rollins had charge of a handsome little pit bull named Huey whom she was looking after whilst her estranged husband was stationed in Korea. Huey had been adopted from an animal shelter in Cumberland County, North Carolina, so one can imagine that he had already experienced the arse end of humanity.

She and her boyfriend jerren heng took Huey to a wooded park, tied him to a tree and shot him multiple times whilst recording the event and laughing. heng can be heard asking to shoot the dog also. A friend of theirs posted the video on Facebook in the hopes that it would highlight their actions and lead to punishment.

I was very saddened to hear that the woman was found dead in her home on Sunday.

It was suicide and not payback.
