Your Next Car?!

Fancy a self drive? Described as a luxury lounge on wheels, can you see yourself getting the groceries in this in a few years? Interactive walls, requires no driver and even talks to pedestrians saying, GET OUT OF THE WAY PEASANTS!’ or similar! πŸ˜‰

  1. very nice, though the passengers/driver look a bit bored. A production/direction mistake I guess. As for me I gave my car away to daughter #2 at the beginning of the year, and am very happy with UBER. πŸ™‚
    Yours truly, Bertrand…

      1. Well, I wish I could oblige, but I am out of inventory. And not having a car feels like one step closer to freedom. LibertΓ©, libertΓ© chΓ©rie…

      2. Haha! Ray-ban actually. I had a pair that had accompanied me for 40 years… Lost it last in Paris. Oh, I cried… πŸ™‚ Bought a new one exactly the same. πŸ˜‰

      3. Lol. You’re like me. When I like something, I LIKE something! Me in a shop: ‘I’ll have 10 pairs of Ray Bans please! Yes that’s right – all the same please. Spit spot!’

  2. um, don’t understand the car or the pic. you see, I’m not into techno crap, give me a donkey and wooden cart, the countryside, and my own veggies which I’m off to market to sell. I know it’s going to be a good day today…….wait……..am I talking in my head? BAD car! love you!

      1. LOL….I hate those f****rs in my head, because they whisper, and I can’t hear what they’re saying! πŸ™‚

  3. Um, they are a reality and not necessarily a good one …

Anyone who knows anything about computer programming should question the safety of these vehicles — too many unpredictable variables that the car (robot) alone will not be able to account for or react to. Just my humble opinion.

It’s a nice idea though I really think we ought to be using our brain cells to develop safer alternative forms of transportation that don’t burn fossil fuels and perhaps even promote our health rather than transform us into unthinking, inactive blobs. Safer biking lanes/paths and more livable communities and neighborhoods, for example.

Sorry, I’ll get off my soapbox now.

    1. Yes I heard about that crash, but there’s nothing to say that human error or distraction or mucking about whilst driving might not ultimately be lessened by this technology. Plus if we’re taking unpredictable variables, there would be no better place to start than with humanoids!
Your desire for safer anything is echoed. I really don’t know why anyone feels we NEED this technology as I haven’t looked deeply into it, unless they are using my top argument, but still interesting and even if it’s just for pleasure, why not? It does not preclude anyone else from concentrating on safety issues and the like.

You and / or your soap box are always welcome!

      1. It seems to open fine on my phone… I didn’t look around yet, on my way to the gym. But I will as soon as I can πŸ˜‰

  4. I have not driven since 2008! Vision problems forced me not to get a apply for a driver’s license when we moved to a new state if the U.S.A. Since I started driving at the age of 12, figured I had put enough miles under my belt over the years, anyway!

  5. Not for me. I like to be in control of my ride and the seats look horribly uncomfortable. I’d definitely pay extra for an “out the way peasants!” button though….

      1. yes, my eldest just completed a degree in mechatronic engineering (robotics) and he is very keen on these things. The company where he has joined are going to trial Driverless trains. (i guess mainly to use in the mines etc)

      2. Thank you, yes I am super proud of him, worked very hard, at times I felt it was too much, but that was his dream since year 4. So finally we got his degree i felt so relieved.
