  1. We were going on a cruise and my wife had some valuable jewelry with her. She thought she put them in her purse but in a hurry she put them in her suitcase. Needless to say they are gone.

  2. I guess I am luckier than I thought…i use one of those….and still haven’t had anything stolen…maybe Indian thieves haven’t seen the video! πŸ™‚

It seems so obvious once you see it doesn’t it? But I would not have thought twice about this when packing!

Is it just me, or did this occur to you??!

    Tell whoever needs to know!

  4. Although you state that you can simply remove the lock if TSA asks you to, there are some instances where you part ways with your checked luggage and go into different lines to get your boarding pass, etc. so I’m not sure if this is always possible. Like a lot of the comments above, I would agree that the best solution is simply to have valuables in your carry-on, or left at home if possible.

  5. You’re absolutely right that it is totally obvious… now that I have seen it. I watched that it total disbelief and I’m sure my mouth was hanging wide open! LOL. It’s nothing I haven’t done with a coat zipper a few times, but I still would have not have thought about it when packing up a suitcase. It’s something else to take a little enjoyment out of travel and holidays…

    1. Isn’t it? In life there are just these stinky little gremlins that think they are the only ones on the planet who deserve happiness and a peaceful existence. (I was just ‘watching’ Bait Car with a side eye – do you know that show where gremlins think it is okay to steal a car just because it has a key in it?)
Grrrrr! Just make me God for a day! πŸ™‚

      1. Bait car, LOL I had to look that up. I thought it had something to do with fishing! πŸ˜‰

Can you email me? I have a link to something you might like, but couldn’t fine your email.

  6. After traveling overseas to South Asia quite a bit I’ve learned that you simply have to carry your valuables with you at all times and be prepared for the other stuff to be rifled through, locks cut off, stuff stolen etc.

I always take my mother in-law ziploc bags, candles, and household goods that she can’t get in India from here in the States and I had the contents of one entire bag go missing. *shrug*

  7. You should check current TSA rules and regulations; you can not lock your bags. If you do, they have the right to remove your locks…

  8. Thanks for the follow!

I used to used to travel abroad a bit. They actually CUT OFF my lock saying that it was illegal to use a lock. πŸ˜›

      1. I realized that they had very little interest if I didn’t use a lock. Apparently if you act like there is nothing of value in there, they think there is nothing of value in there!

  9. OK, let’s hope these bloggers aren’t thieves. And what’s up with “…not even in Africa…”? Does Africa have higher thievery rates than anywhere else?
Hmm…not sure I’m convinced to buy new luggage. But then again, I don’t travel with anything others would want. If they want it, they can have it; I have my memories.

      1. the closing speech is very touching, not even in africa he said! so sweet πŸ™‚ would it be proper if i asked ’em to bring me a couple of G’s if he is ever over in egypt?! peace out

  10. Yeah..it happens far more often than most might realize and most of the time everything stays intact so you never know and think you just forgot to pack it. :S
